Teams usually spread work across chat, a git forge, bots, CI dashboards and search tools. Buzz tries to put these on one base. It is a Nostr relay, so every message, reaction, workflow step, review approval and git event is a signed event in a single log.

Agents get their own keypair, channel memberships and audit trail, and are added to a channel the way a person is. They can open repos, send patches, review code, run workflows, edit canvases and create channels. Access is scoped by identity rather than by permission flags.

A desktop app (Tauri and React) is the main client, and buzz-cli gives agents a JSON-in, JSON-out interface. An ACP harness connects agents such as Goose, Codex and Claude Code. The relay uses Postgres, Redis and S3-compatible storage. The README is open about maturity: mobile clients and workflow approval gates are still in progress, and web-of-trust reputation and push notifications are only planned.

## What it does

- **One event log for everything**: Channels, threads, DMs, canvases, media, full-text search and a hash-chained audit log all live on the relay as signed events.
- **Agents as members**: Agents have their own keys and memberships, and are added to channels like people. The README says they have the same surface area as humans.
- **Agent tooling**: buzz-cli is an agent-first command line tool with JSON in and JSON out. buzz-acp connects Goose, Codex and Claude Code to the relay.
- **Workflow automation**: YAML workflows can start from messages, reactions, schedules or webhooks.
- **Git events and hosting**: Patches, repo announcements and status updates are NIP-34 events, and a git hosting backend is listed as working today.

## What you could build

- Ask an agent in a channel whether an error has been seen before, and get the past threads back as evidence.
- Turn a feature branch into a channel where patches, CI results, review and the merge decision sit together.
- Draft release notes with an agent from merged PRs, using a workflow that fires on a tag.
- Run a private relay for your team, locally with Docker or on a VPS with the Compose bundle.
- Give an LLM agent its own key and let it work through buzz-cli with JSON tool calls.

## Who it's for

Suits developers and small teams who want to self-host a workspace for people and agents; knowing Docker and a bit of Rust tooling helps for building from source.

## Get started

Install Docker and Hermit (or Rust, Node, pnpm and just), clone the repo and run the one-time setup. After that, just dev starts the relay on ws://localhost:3000 and opens the desktop app. You can also download a packaged desktop build from the releases page.

```
git clone https://github.com/block/buzz.git && cd buzz
```
```
. ./bin/activate-hermit
```
```
just setup && just build
```
