Doing PR well takes many separate jobs: watching the news, deciding whether you have standing to comment, writing angles, finding the right reporter, and checking your claims. Newsjack turns each job into a skill, which is a Markdown file of instructions your agent reads. You call a skill by name, such as /angle-generator, or describe what you want and the agent picks one.

The skills fall into four groups. Detect finds and filters stories. Act drafts headlines, pitches, holding statements and media lists. Strategize helps you work out your story and plan a calendar. AI visibility covers writing and testing content so AI answers can reuse it.

Most skills run in any agent. Some need a live news index or saved monitoring state, so they work best in a local agent such as Claude Code, Codex, Hermes or OpenClaw. Some also use a free Medialyst account for news search and journalist data. The README has a table showing which skill runs where.

## What it does

- **News detection pipeline**: Skills search for news, check who broke a story, filter out junk, and sort stories into pitch now, watch, or big news based on whether you have standing. Reports can go to Slack.
- **Pitch drafting and review**: Generate angles and headlines, then have /meanest-editor critique the pitch. /fact-check extracts claims and verifies each one, and /journalist-fit-check asks whether a given reporter would care.
- **Crisis and reactive tools**: /crisis-holding drafts holding statements and Q&A posture, with a legal-counsel gate. /reactive-comment triages inbound source requests and drafts replies only for real fits.
- **Press clips and media lists**: /press-clip turns an article URL into a branded PDF using a real browser. /find-journalists builds a fit-checked media list.
- **AI visibility workflow**: A chain of skills builds and quality-checks a set of prompts to measure how AI answers mention your company, and /ai-visibility-writing revises copy so AI answers can reuse it.

## What you could build

- Set up daily monitoring that flags fresh news stories your company has standing to comment on.
- Turn a product update into several angles and headlines for different reporters.
- Check a pitch for shaky claims and weak framing before sending it.
- Draft a holding statement when a crisis hits, with a prompt to involve legal counsel.
- Plan six months of news hooks and build a short list of reporters who fit your story.

## Who it's for

Founders, small marketing teams and PR agencies who already use an AI agent such as Claude Code or Codex; no PR background is needed, since a strategy skill walks you through the basics.

## Get started

On macOS or Linux, run the install script (read install.sh first if you like). It installs the CLI and adds the skills to your detected agent. Or paste the README's prompt into your agent and let it do the setup.

```
curl -fsSL newsjack.sh | bash
```
```
npm i -g newsjack@latest
