Explaining a bug or a design change to an AI agent in words is slow. ScreenContext lets you record the screen instead, then pass that recording to an agent that can process video. The agent can then fix the bug, write a ticket, or help make a product video.

It works in a few steps. You start recording with a global shortcut while your agent's app is active, and stop with the same shortcut. The recording opens for review. One click or shortcut copies the local MP4 path and switches you back to the agent, where you paste it and add your request.

It does not upload anything for you. If your agent cannot read a local path, you attach the MP4 yourself. It also works as a plain screen recorder with a library of local MP4 files. The README says there is no account, cloud upload or analytics. It is built with Swift, SwiftUI and ScreenCaptureKit.

## What it does

- **Record, copy, return**: A global shortcut (Ctrl+Cmd+R by default) starts and stops recording. Copy & Return copies the file path and switches back to the app you were using.
- **Flexible capture inputs**: Choose a screen or window, and optionally add system audio, microphone audio and a webcam overlay. Webcam background blur is available.
- **Local MP4 library**: Recordings are saved as local MP4 files. You can play them back, copy the video, or delete them from the library.
- **Share video into other apps**: Copy Video & Return lets you paste the video file into apps such as Slack, if you started recording with that app active.
- **Local by default**: No account, cloud upload or analytics. The app asks for screen, microphone and camera permissions only when needed.

## What you could build

- Record a bug you reproduced and ask a video-capable agent to fix it.
- Capture a workflow and ask an agent to turn it into a ticket, such as a Linear issue.
- Show a website change you want, like a shorter heading, and let an agent make the edit.
- Turn a product walkthrough into a presentation video with an agent's help.
- Record a quick tutorial or demo and paste it into Slack for a teammate.

## Who it's for

Mac users who work with AI agents that can process video; it needs macOS 15 or later, and building from source needs Xcode 26.

## Get started

Install the free app from the Mac App Store, or open ScreenContext.xcodeproj in Xcode 26 or later and run the build script. Then pick your inputs in Settings, press Ctrl+Cmd+R to record, and paste the copied path into your agent.

```
./script/build_and_run.sh
```
