- Agent skills & plugins
Codex plugins add extra abilities to the Codex coding agent. This repo is a library of working examples. Each one lives in its own folder under plugins/<name>/ and must have a .codex-plugin/plugin.json manifest.
Beyond the manifest, a plugin can include skills, an .app.json, an .mcp.json for tool servers, agents, commands, hooks and assets. You can open any example to see how those pieces fit together.
The repo also has a default marketplace file at .agents/plugins/marketplace.json that points at the plugins/ directory. Users who log in with an API key have a separate marketplace file. The README is short and does not explain installation or the plugin format in detail.
What it does
Standard plugin layout
Every plugin has a required manifest at .codex-plugin/plugin.json, plus optional folders and files for skills, MCP, agents, commands and hooks.
Design and knowledge plugins
The Figma example covers use_figma, Code to Canvas, Code Connect and design system rules. The Notion example covers planning, research, meetings and knowledge capture.
Apple and mobile development
Plugins for iOS (SwiftUI, refactors, performance, debugging), macOS (SwiftUI/AppKit, build and debug loops, packaging) and Expo/React Native (SDK upgrades, EAS workflows).
Web and deployment bundles
The build-web-apps plugin covers deployment, UI, payments and databases. Netlify, Remotion and Google Slides are further skill- and MCP-backed examples.
Marketplace definitions
Two marketplace files list the available plugins: a default one and a separate one for API key login users.
What you could build
- Study a real Codex plugin to learn how manifests, skills and MCP config fit together.
- Copy an existing plugin folder as a starting point for your own Codex plugin.
- Look at the Figma plugin to see how design-to-code workflows are packaged.
- Read the iOS or Expo plugins to see how mobile build and debug workflows become agent skills.
- Check the marketplace files to see how plugins are listed for Codex.
Get started
The README gives no install commands. Clone the repo, browse the plugins/ folder, and start with a plugin that matches your tool, reading its .codex-plugin/plugin.json first.
Commands are copied from the project's README. Read it on GitHub for the full setup.
