Patients and caregivers often face piles of documents, unfamiliar terms and scattered advice. The author built this skill after hearing from many people supporting a loved one through cancer. It aims to answer three questions: what to do next, what is known, and how to advocate for yourself.
You install it into an agent such as Claude Code or ChatGPT, then give it context: a brain dump, a pasted report or a new test result. It writes a brief with patient information, up to three next actions, what is confirmed versus unclear, plain-English medical terms and a compact care log. You can save it as a local Markdown file or a shareable Google Doc, and update it over time.
Its research is tied to named sources: NCI PDQ summaries, national drug regulators, official clinical guidelines, PubMed and the ClinicalTrials.gov API. A bundled Python script searches trials, filters sites by distance from home and labels each site's recruitment status. The README states clearly that it does not diagnose, choose treatment, decide trial eligibility or replace the medical team.
What it does
Five-section brief
Patient information, what to do next (up to three actions), what we know, medical terms, and a care log.
Updates over time
You can share new reports or context and ask it to update the existing brief.
Clinical trial search
A standard-library Python script queries ClinicalTrials.gov API v2, filters sites with --near LAT,LON, labels recruitment status and ranks likely matches first.
Named trusted sources
Research is grounded in NCI PDQ, national regulators, ASCO/ESMO/NICE-type guidance, and PubMed, with early evidence labeled as such.
Local or Google Doc output
Markdown mode needs no account or API key. Google Doc mode uses your connected Google Drive.
What you could build
- Write a first brief for a newly diagnosed relative from whatever you know so far.
- Ask for a pasted pathology report to be explained and prepare questions for a doctor meeting.
- Search for recruiting clinical trials near a given city for a specific diagnosis.
- Keep a shareable Google Doc for the whole family and update it after each appointment.
- Look up unfamiliar medical terms and acronyms in plain English.
Get started
Install the skill with the command above, or paste the install prompt from the README into your agent. Then run /fuck-cancer with a short description of the situation or a report, and choose Markdown or Google Doc when asked.
