Claudish is a parody project. It turns short plain sentences like "Only owners can merge." into the overwrought, AI-assistant-sounding prose the README calls Claudish. It can also translate that style back into plain English.
It uses two ProgramAsWeights (PAW) functions, one for each direction. You load each by its ID with paw.function. The programs download once and then run on your machine. A small translate.py script wraps them for the command line.
The repo also includes the written specs behind both functions, so you can copy them into your own PAW program or adapt them for another model. It is inspired by gvzdv/claudish-to-english. It is unofficial and not affiliated with Anthropic.
What it does
English to Claudish
A PAW function turns plain English sentences into the exaggerated Claudish style.
Claudish to English
A second function reverses the process and turns Claudish back into plain English.
Runs locally
The programs download once and then run on your machine. You don't pass max_tokens, because PAW stops on its own at end of sequence.
Command-line wrapper
translate.py has to-claudish and to-english commands, so you can try it without writing Python.
Editable specs
Two markdown spec files describe each function. You can reuse them as a starting point for your own PAW programs.
What you could build
- Try ProgramAsWeights with a small, concrete example before building your own function.
- Translate a blunt status update into Claudish for a joke or a demo.
- Decode a wordy, AI-sounding paragraph back into plain English.
- Copy the spec files to write your own text-style translator as a PAW program.
Get started
Install the programasweights package from the extra index, then load the two functions by ID with paw.function and call them on a string. Or use the translate.py wrapper from the command line.
pip install programasweights --extra-index-url https://pypi.programasweights.com/simple/python translate.py to-claudish "The release can go out after Alice approves the final report."Commands are copied from the project's README. Read it on GitHub for the full setup.
