Agents often need data from services like SEO tools, people enrichment or scraping APIs. Those usually mean a subscription, a signup, or no public API at all. Treg holds the provider accounts and bills small per-call fees from a prepaid balance. The README compares it to OpenRouter, but for tools instead of models.

It works as a proxy. You send the real upstream request through treg with your token. Treg finds the tool, adds the credential on the server, and relays the response. Callers never hold the keys. Your own key for a provider always beats treg's, and those calls are not metered.

Teams can also register their own endpoints, vendor CLIs such as stripe or gh, and SKILL.md recipes, so teammates' agents can run them through treg. Treg does not pick a provider for you or fail over silently, except for routed endpoints you opt into. It is built by the Superdesign team, hosted at treg.to, and can be self-hosted.

## What it does

- **Searchable tool catalog**: Search by task, such as 'find a work email', and see prices and parameters with `treg catalog get`. Then call the tool with `treg call`. New verified teams get $1.00 free.
- **Server-side credential injection**: Endpoints and CLIs run with the org's secret added by the server, so agents and teammates never hold the key. `treg calls` and `treg runs` give audit logs.
- **Share your own keys, CLIs and skills**: `treg scan` previews and `treg upload` registers keys from a .env, skill folders and installed CLIs. `treg run` runs a vendor CLI with the credential injected, locally or on the server.
- **Agent integrations**: It installs as a Claude Code plugin, through `npx skills add`, or as an MCP connector. It ships workflow skills such as lead-signals and make-ugc.
- **Clear billing signals**: `treg balance` shows spend. Running out of balance returns an HTTP 402 with the balance, estimated cost and a top-up URL, so an agent can react to it.

## What you could build

- Let an agent look up backlinks or SEO data without buying a Semrush or Moz plan.
- Find work emails and company details for a list of leads from an agent.
- Share one team Stripe or GitHub login with teammates' agents without handing out the key.
- Package a SKILL.md with its secrets so the whole team runs the same skill.
- Generate AI UGC videos or speech from the command line using the make-ugc skill or the Fish Audio tools.

## Who it's for

Developers building or running agents who need paid third-party data and APIs; you should be comfortable with a CLI and API keys.

## Get started

Install the CLI, sign in with `treg login`, then search the catalog and make a call. Check `treg balance` to see what it cost. To use it in Claude Code, add the plugin marketplace.

```
curl -fsSL https://treg.to/install.sh | sh
```
```
treg login
```
```
treg catalog search "backlinks for a domain"
```
