Agents are only useful if they can do things in other apps: read email, file tickets, post messages. Each app has its own API and its own login rules. Composio packages those integrations as toolkits and handles authentication for you.
You create a session for each of your users, then hand that session's tools to your agent. By default the session gives the agent a few meta tools that find, authenticate and run app tools while it works. This means you don't load hundreds of tool definitions into the model's context.
Provider adapters convert the tools into the format your agent framework expects, such as OpenAI Agents, Claude Agent SDK, Vercel AI SDK, LangChain or CrewAI. If your framework isn't listed, you can write a custom provider or connect over MCP, since every session can expose a hosted MCP endpoint.
What it does
1000+ pre-authenticated toolkits
Ready-made tools for many apps, with authentication handled so your agent can act on a user's behalf.
Per-user sessions
Each session is scoped to one of your users. You can store the session ID and reuse it across turns.
Runtime tool discovery
Meta tools search for, authenticate and execute app tools on demand, keeping the context small.
Framework adapters
Providers for OpenAI, Anthropic, Claude Agent SDK, Vercel AI SDK, Google, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Mastra, CrewAI, AutoGen and others, in TypeScript and Python.
CLI and MCP
The composio CLI can search, execute and script tools from your shell, and sessions can expose a hosted MCP URL for clients like Claude or Cursor.
What you could build
- Build an assistant that summarizes a user's emails from today.
- Give a multi-user agent app separate, authenticated access to each user's connected accounts.
- Connect Claude, Cursor or another MCP client to many apps through one hosted MCP endpoint.
- Let a coding agent such as Claude Code search and run tools from your terminal with the composio CLI.
- Write a custom provider to add Composio tools to an agent framework that has no adapter yet.
Get started
Get a COMPOSIO_API_KEY from the Composio dashboard and install the SDK plus a provider for your agent framework. Then create a session for a user, pass session tools to your agent, and run it. The README example uses the OpenAI Agents provider.
npm install @composio/core @composio/openai-agents @openai/agentspip install composio composio-openai-agents openai-agentscurl -fsSL https://composio.dev/install | shCommands are copied from the project's README. Read it on GitHub for the full setup.
