Most AI stock pickers give one confident opinion. Investment Council asks the same question through 21 investor styles, such as Warren Buffett, Peter Lynch and Michael Burry, and puts the answers side by side. The disagreement is the useful part: if five like a stock and one doesn't, you see that.
It runs as six steps inside Claude Code. Step 1 is plain Python that pulls prices and fundamentals from Yahoo Finance and does the math. Claude then writes each investor's reasoning, a consensus heat map, position sizing, and BUY/ADD/HOLD/SELL/PASS calls, and finally a report and dashboard. Each step saves a plain text file you can read and edit before the next one starts.
The README says the AI never invents numbers. It only explains the ones Python gave it, and a validate.py script checks they stay in sync. The tool does not trade for you and is not financial advice.
What it does
21 investor personas
Each investor has their own scoring rules. Burry looks for hidden risk, Lynch for simple businesses growing faster than expected.
Consensus heat map
Lines up every investor's view for every ticker so agreement and disagreement are easy to see.
Numbers kept apart from opinions
A Python script fetches data from Yahoo Finance and does the math. Claude only writes reasoning on top, and validate.py checks for drift.
Review after every step
Every stage writes a plain text file. You can correct it, and the next stage uses your change.
Tax and rate awareness
If you list your holdings, it considers which account to sell from first, covering Canadian and US account types. It also checks current interest rates on each run.
What you could build
- Compare how a value investor and a contrarian would view the same stock.
- Stress-test a shortlist of tickers before you decide how much to put in each.
- Review stocks you already own and get a tax-aware view of what to sell first.
- Study how famous investing styles differ by reading the personas and their scoring rules.
- Generate a report and dashboard to discuss with a financial advisor.
Get started
Fill in tickers, capital and investors in setup/questionnaire.md, then run the fetch script. Open the folder in Claude Code and run stages 02 to 06 one at a time, checking each output. The report is at stages/06_report/output/investment_brief.md, with dashboard.html beside it. A sample run is in examples/sample-run/.
pip install -r requirements.txtpython stages/01_fetch/fetch.pyCommands are copied from the project's README. Read it on GitHub for the full setup.
