Making a good lesson takes time: outlining, building slides, writing quizzes, and finding ways to practise. OpenMAIC (Open Multi-Agent Interactive Classroom) automates that. You give it a topic or attach materials, and it builds a lesson you can play through.
Several AI agents take part in the lesson. Some act as teachers and some as classmates. They speak aloud, draw on a whiteboard, and discuss the material with you in real time. Lessons can include slides, quizzes, interactive HTML simulations, and project-based learning. Version 1.0 added an agent workbench, a chat workspace where an agent plans a course, builds each page, and revises it using your uploaded documents, audio or video.
It is provider-neutral: you bring your own language models, media, search and storage. It is a Next.js and TypeScript app, and the README lists LangGraph among its tools. It also ships a SKILL.md skill, so agent tools such as OpenClaw and Codex can generate classrooms for you. There is a live demo and a Vercel deploy button.
What it does
One-click lesson generation
Describe a topic or attach materials, and the AI builds a full lesson. The README says this takes minutes.
Multi-agent classroom
AI teachers and classmates lecture, discuss and respond to you in real time. Classroom chat can reference a slide element or a whiteboard drawing.
Several scene types
Lessons can include slides, quizzes, interactive HTML simulations and project-based learning. Release notes also mention 3D visualisation, games, mind maps and online programming.
Whiteboard and voice
Agents draw diagrams, write formulas and explain out loud using text-to-speech.
Export and agent skill
Download editable .pptx slides or interactive .html pages. The bundled OpenMAIC Skill lets OpenClaw, Codex and similar tools generate classrooms.
What you could build
- Generate a complete interactive lesson on a topic you want to learn.
- Turn a PDF or lecture notes into slides, quizzes and a guided walkthrough.
- Export a generated lesson as an editable .pptx deck for your own class.
- Self-host a classroom tool with your own LLM provider and storage.
- Ask an agent tool in Slack, Telegram or your IDE to teach you a subject through the OpenMAIC skill.
Get started
The easiest way to try it is the live demo at open.maic.chat, or get a hosted access code for the agent skill. To self-host, you need Node.js 22.19 or newer and at least one LLM provider key. The README excerpt cuts off before the install commands, so follow its Quick Start section.
Commands are copied from the project's README. Read it on GitHub for the full setup.
